2 марта 2011 | News

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan — Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon has appointed his eldest son to a senior post in the government, fueling speculation that the veteran leader may be grooming him as his successor.
Rustami Emomali, 23, will head a department fighting crime at Tajikistan's State Customs Service, several sources close to the government said.
Prior to his appointment, he was in charge of supporting entrepreneurs at the State Investment Committee.
Rakhmon, 58, is a father of nine, but his eldest son often joins government delegations during visits of foreign officials.
